Symphony & Steel Original Music Competition
Deadline for submissions:  November 21, 2008

Methanex Trinidad Limited in collaboration with The University of the West Indies and The Music Literacy Trust invite composers to create NEW MUSIC that integrates the SYMPHONIC ORCHESTRA and the STEEL ORCHESTRA.

This is an international competition in the following three categories of compositions for a Chamber Orchestra and Steel Ensemble -

  1. Overture for Chamber Orchestra and Steel Ensemble
    (Duration 5 – 8 minutes)
  2. Steelpan Concerto in one to three movements for solo steelpan with Chamber Orchestra
    (Duration 10 – 30 minutes)
  3. An arrangement of a Calypso from Trinidad and Tobago for Chamber Orchestra and Steel Ensemble
    (Duration 5 – 8 minutes)
